Natasha Lenaghan

 

Natasha Lenaghan is a lampwork glass bead artist whose passion for beaded jewellery began on a working holiday in Canada with a bead loom and tubes of seed beads.

Natasha’s foray into creating lampwork glass beads began in 2007 with a beginner class at Chockadoo Glass Studio in Sydney.

Following a move to Ireland, Natasha undertook classes with Ruzica Ruane (Cadenza Glass, Dun Laoghaire, Ireland).

On return to Australia with her family, Natasha set up her own lampwork glass bead making studio space at The Creator Incubator (Newcastle, NSW).

Natasha’s creations are inspired by colours and forms in nature – shells washed up on a shore, fallen seed pods, aerial photography of coast lines.

Dancing With the Flame: Contemporary Australian Lampwork – National Art Glass

 

The Embers collection is inspired by warm Winter fires which is expressed in the hues of red achieved. This necklace is composed of my hand made glass beads interspersed with beads of hematite and sterling silver. This statement necklace is completed with a handmade clasp of soldered sterling silver rings, which compliments the asymmetrical design of the necklace. Dimensions: Necklace length 45cm, Bead width 0.8 -1.5cm
The Country Collection of green, carnelian, red clay, grey and topaz coloured beads is inspired by the complexity of understorey vegetation in dry sclerophyll eucalypt forests. Acid etching has been used on some of the beads to provide another layer of texture to the intricate design. Strung on leather the necklace is completed with a handmade copper and sterling silver hook clasp and is adjustable. Dimensions: Necklace length 42-49cm, Bead width 1.2 -2cm
